Ps 51:1-6
51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
KJV

Now that we have called sin what God calls it what do we do with it? Davis tried to cover his sin up with lies and even murder. When David tried to hide his sin it grew and grew and David was taken to places I am sure he never dreamed he would go. Others ignore sin or are indifferent to sin. Be sure when we treat sin in such ways it will grow just as David’s sin grew. We must then acknowledge sin, own it as ours before we can be made clean from it. In or justice system when one makes a plea agreement they must often confess to the crime publicly in open court, they must own up tot he crime. We need to do the same thing with God, we need to acknowledge our sin, confess it before Him. That is what David did in verse three, he confess his sin, acknowledged it before God. What David tried to cover up he now made known. Before God can restore us we need to acknowledge our sins, confess before God what we have done and then after that the doors of restoration can be opened.
