Prov 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

I was preaching at a nursing home last evening and the message surrounded things one can keep. Speaking to a group of people who had lost so much, health, home, and so on, I was speaking about things we can keep. There are several things in the Bible identified as things we can keep, one of them being our heart. No individual, no circumstance can take your heart, it is yours to be given to what you choose, to be centered on what you want it to be. Our hearts need to be centered on Christ, rest in Christ, and be given to Christ. As was said no one can take your heart, not even the Lord. Your heart is yours, God will not forcibly take it, He has left that to you and to me. But what will we do with our heart? Will we keep it for the Lord, that is what the text verse implies, or will it be given to the world? Will our heart be open to God and His Word, or will it be hardened to Him? How are you keeping your heart today?
