Ps 50:16-17 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
17 Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

One thing you learn about instruction from the Bible is that the wicked hate it. (Prov 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.) Why so? Because it reveals our faults, errors, and the word that no one likes to hear, SIN. Man has a sin problem and without instruction in righteousness he never needs confront it. Try and tell a drunkard that alcohol is a sin and they will despise you. Try and tell a Sodomite that homosexuality is a sin and they will despise you even more. Point out sin and people do not like it, they hate instruction. Don’t be so hard on the lost and sinful for we are still like that after salvation are we not, we still battle sin and the flesh do we not? Point out the sin in the lives of God’s people and you see that old nature flare up just as it is seen in the lost person. But without instruction we are headed for a hard, hard fall. What should our attitude be when we find instruction that points a finger at us? Receive instruction humbly for tomorrow we will see what it can bring to the one who receives instruction wisely.
