1 Cor 1:26-27 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called into service of the Lord. Yesterday we saw that Amos was a common man as were most of the apostles and the prophets of the Old Testament. Does that mean not any wise, mighty, and noble are called to serve the Lord? No it doesn’t. Christ died for all and all are called to serve after they repent and turn to Christ for forgiveness of sin and free salvation. Moses was all of the above. Raised in the house of the Pharaoh he was a mighty man and a noble man. Study his life and one concludes he was also a wise man, a learned man. Yet God used him in a powerful way and according to the Bible he was the greatest of the Old Testament prophets. One is not limited by their standing in this world in serving the Lord. Why then not many of that wise, mighty and noble group? Because of what we have to leave behind, not only to be saved but to serve. We need to leave self behind, pride behind, our wisdom and our might behind to come to and then follow Jesus Christ in service. Not many of that elite group are willing to do that. Are you?
