August 13th, 2015 by Pastor Solley1 Kings 6:38-7:1 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
7 But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.
Even God’s people can get out of balance when building. Solomon was seven years in building the Temple and the splendor of Solomon’s Temple cannot be described in words. If you take time to read and study the temple that God allowed Solomon to build you conclude that the beauty of that place has never and never will be matched by any place of worship. Yet we find that Solomon then was thirteen years in building his own house and if you look at the palace that Solomon built you find extravagance beyond belief. Solomon was carried away with building something that he could not take with him and that is one factor, along with his many wives, that turned his heart away from God. Today we find the very same thing among the people of God. Build a carrier, build a large home, two new cars, boats, four wheelers, and what not. Nothing wrong with having those things until the things we are building take us away from God. No time for church, one needs to work. No time for serving the Lord, one needs to play with their toys. Many of God’s people have been turned away from the Lord by the things they have build. Study the life of Solomon and you find all that building left him empty, it never filled him.
