Acts 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Prov 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Prov 23:31-35 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

I think this morning of the “Prick” of alcohol and drugs that so many are kicking against today, the homes broken up, the lives ruined and lost by these two evils, and how few see the damage that is being done. More and more states want to legalize drugs that they say are recreational thinking no harm will come of this. Health insurance, auto insurance, even life insurance have such high rates in part because of the alcohol and drug problem in our nation. The biggest industry in PA today seems to be the building and staffing of prisons and that in the largest part because of alcohol and drugs. I sat in jail visiting a man detained there because of multiple DUI arrests. He lost his job, his home, his marriage, his children, his car, everything because of alcohol. That same man looked at me and told me “A little to drink never hurt anyone.” Why can’t people see the prick of alcohol and what it is doing to them? Just read our last few verses.
