1 Sam 1:28 Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there.

“He worshipped the Lord” is in reference who was about five years of age I believe when he was brought to Eli to serve in the tabernacle. (He would have been no older than eight.) So many today try and justify not bringing their children to church, not bringing them to the Lord by saying that they are just not able to understand, they are not old enough for the things of God. Yet we find Samuel worshipping the Lord at a very young age. So will our children if we train them, if we bring them to the Lord. I talk to the very young at VBS all week and they retain what they are being given. One thing we do in our opening is ask questions from their lessons from the day before and those in our 2 – 3 year old class can give answer, they remember. God’s Word is being planted in their hearts and minds and they keep it. Some will be sent home to parents who will not continue in the things of God, do not go to church, will not read the Bible and pray with their little ones and for those one things will be forgotten is perhaps a very short time. But for others, for those who parents truly love them and bring them to Jesus, those things are remember and they learn. Soon they will learn the deeper things of God as well.
