June 8th, 2015 by Pastor SolleyMatt 19:13-15 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
Our VBS begins this morning and we see the desire of Jesus in our text, to touch the little children. That is our desire as well, that they come under the tender care of Jesus, that they repent of sin and ask Christ to save them, that they become a real part of the family of God. We know that is the will of God for each and every individual, that all come to repentance. One cannot do that until they are introduced to Jesus Christ and that is what we want to do, introduce the young ones to Christ this week. Did you know that the phrase “Little children” is found four times in the Old Testament? But more than that, the first two times it is used occur in times of judgment. I will leave you to look that up for yourselves, but that is what we are trying to do as well this week. We are trying to show to the young people the way to avoid the wrath of God poured out on sin. We are all born sinners, even the youngest of people are sinners, and when one comes to that age of accountability they must make a choice, remain in sin or repent and come to Christ. That is also the aim this week, move some from judgment to salvation by the power of Jesus Christ and conviction of the Holy Spirit. With that in mind, please pray for the salvations of souls this coming week at Cherry Corner.
