12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.It is difficult at times to run the race that is set before us as it says in vrse one. To keep unspotted by the world, to serve with joy and gladness. There are many people and things that Satan will set in our path and the race track is littered with those who have quit the race.
But consider verse three. The contradiction Jesus Christ endured for us. How He came and dwelt with sinners in this world although He was not one. How He submitted to the will of the Father in ever thing. Jesus must have grown tired in the race, yet He endured for us.
Is it then too much for us to endure for Him? Too much for us to set sin aside even though we know it is hurting us. Too much to take up the Bible and prayer as staples of our life. Too much to ask that we draw close to Him. Too much to ask that we receive the better life He has for us. Is it too much to ask?
