1 Chron 4:9-10
9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

There are times when the Bible says a great deal in just a few words. Jabez was “More honorable than his brethren”. A simple statement, just five words, but it speaks volumes and volumes about Jabez. Consider his brethren if you would, look at the names that are given in the context of the listing of these genealogies. Adam is named, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Boaz, David, they are all named. Then it says of Jabez, he was “More honorable” then them all. That is quite a statement to make isn’t it? Even if it involves only those named in chapter four, it is quite a statement to make. Then you consider the one who made it. God made that statement, not his mommy or daddy, not his children, not his friends, God said that about Jabez. Do you ever wonder what God says about you? What God says about us will not be revealed in a book for all the world to read as in the case of Jabez, but it is being written down in a book, what God thinks of us is being written down. God keeps records just like the record book of the Bible and one day as we stand before Him the books will be opened and it will be revealed what God says about us. To me that is a sobering thought and perhaps more than at any other time in my life I think about that truth, that God does have an opinion of me and that it is being written down. One more thing, that can be changed, the opinion God has of us can be changed. Because of Christ and His intercession for us, that opinion can be changed. Think about that for a while today and see if we need to come before God seeking a cleansing and a new and better walk in Christ.
