Daily Devotions

Matt 19:13-15
13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

What do you measure the love a parent has for a child with? Children today are given more things and pushed into more things at younger ages than ever before, they seem to be given everything and anything they want and are allowed to do anything they want. Sports become a part of their lives at very young ages. I see all the time under 8 soccer with them starting at about 4 or 5 years old. T-ball, Cheerleading, dance classes, wrestling, pee-wee football and basketball, kids involved in all of these. This devotional is not against sports, but what of what is of true value? How many parents are bringing them to Jesus at a young age? As a pastor I can tell you not many. Children are given everything and anything, except the one thing and the one person they truly need. Were they in Sunday School on the Lord’s day, were they in church, in youth group, will they be in VBS and involved in the other church activities this coming summer? Or will all their time be taken up with things that matter little? No wonder our young people are suffering.
