And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
We had a beautiful Lord’s Day yesterday, a beautiful Resurrection Day. The house of God was full and what an opportunity to preach the gospel, to tell why Jesus Christ came and that He died a sacrifice so that all could receive the offer of salvation by His shed blood on the cross. I hear more and more today that one should not celebrate “Easter”, that the word has its origins in pagan celebrations, that there should be no “Special” Sunday. Yet I thank the Lord that the world does stop and remember a risen Lord, a risen Savior. I am not thankful for the Easter Bunny or any such nonsense as that, but I am thankful at this time of year, as I am at Christian, that even unbelief acknowledges Christ and for the opportunity to present the gospel to the lost. After the resurrection, after they heard the good news, the first thing they were told was to go and tell others. That is what we are to do after we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior, go and tell others. Easter Sunday, the Resurrection Day, presents an opportunity to do just that. I don’t know how many of the visitors in our church yesterday were lost, but I do know it was an opportunity to give them the truth of the Word of God, an opportunity to give them the gospel. Of that I am thankful. Tell others the good news of Jesus Christ, of His death, His burial, His resurrection and His offer to all of free salvation in Him and Him alone.
