February 3rd, 2015 by Pastor SolleyPhilem 1-5 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
Paul over and over again called himself a prisoner of Jesus Christ. But I find only two times that he called another a “Fellowprisoner” with him. One of those is in this little book, (Verse 23), the other in Col 3:10. Why was Paul so guarded in using that word concerning others? Because one has to make his or her self a prisoner of the Lord, it is a matter of choice, a matter of consecration, a matter of dedication. Paul was sold out for the Lord, but not every Christian is. Being a Christian makes one a child of God and that by choice as well. It is the will of God that all be saved and all have that opportunity, but no one is forced to be saved. It is also the will of God that all saved individuals become prisoners of Christ, be sold out for the Jesus Christ, but that is not forced on any just as salvation is not. I want to look over the next few days at what makes one a prisoner and the blessings that follow that decision. Consider your life in Christ this morning, are you known by God as a prisoner of His Son?
