January 14th, 2015 by Pastor SolleyPs 1 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
The blessed man, the happy man is one who seeks counsel in the right places, whose delight is in the law of the Lord. This morning we see another trait of the blessed man, he is like a tree planted by the waters. (Verse 3) Note that this is a planted tree, not one that just appeared there, not one that grew there by happenstance, this is a planted tree. That means that someone took the time to pick out a place, pick out a tree, prepare the ground, and plant the tree. That one my friend is the Lord and this tree is exactly where God wanted it to be planted. The tree then is not to fight against God, not to look for better things or better surroundings, it is just to grow right where God placed it. Far too often in our Christian life we look for better things, for better surroundings, instead of just being content with what God has provided and where God has placed us. This tree was placed there by the Lord and was to grow right there. Before we begin to look around, before we look for greener pastures, we need to determine where it is that God wants us. It may be that God wants us to move and if He does we need to wait until He moves us. Or it could be that God wants us to grow right where we are.
