December 29th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyLuke 13:6-9 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
We are about to enter into yet another New Year and like many people this preacher never thought we would see the year 2000 much less 2015, yet here we are. The next prophetic event to take place in the Bible is the rapture of the church and looking at this world and the signs of the times pointing to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ at the end of the tribulation period, after the rapture of His church before the beginning of the tribulation, we must be close. But we were close in 1979, and 1989, and 1999, and 2009 and so on. The world is ready, the Christian is looking and waiting, when will Jesus come to take us out of this world and allow the tribulation to begin? We do not know, all I do know is that we had 2014 and we look to begin 2015. Let me ask you, what did you do for Christ in 2014, what did you do in the year we just had? Were you barren like the vineyard in the parable above? If the rapture had taken place, would Jesus have found you bearing fruit for Him? Or would the Lord be disappointed in you as the certain man in the parable? Over the next few days consider how the Lord would have found us if He had returned in 2014. Tomorrow we will consider what can be done to make ourselves ready for His return in 2015 should He come for His church in the year that lies ahead.
