December 4th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 126 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Have you ever noticed how the sorrows of life seem to make the joys of heaven sweeter even here in this world? (Verses 5-6) That is true only if we remain faithful during the trials we are called to endure. The question has often been asked “Why do bad things happen to good people?” And Christians at times wonder why God doesn’t just shield us from all the struggles, trials, and sorrows of life. Those questions can never truly be answered in this world, but there is one thing we know for sure. “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” The trials of this life are not for ever, but heaven is and there is coming a day when all sorrow will cease, the trials will all be over, and we will stand with Jesus Christ for all eternity. Now that is true only if you are born again, but for those who are, the tears of this life make the joys of heaven all the more real as we remain faithful to our Lord and Savior.
