Gen 10:8-9 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

This is the first day of deer hunting season in PA. and the woods will be full of hopeful hunters so my mind was taken to hunters this morning. In Gen 10 we find a “Mighty one in the earth”, a hunter in Nimrod. Nimrod was a hunter of souls and not in a good way. He was a satanic man who opposed the Lord and the things of the Lord. But I think also of two other hunters this morning that I am thankful for, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of God. I think of Jesus who promised to draw ALL men unto Himself. (John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.) I also think of the conviction power of the Holy Spirit upon the lost. (John 16:7-11 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.)
This is the drawing power of God. I do not believe God will force any individual to get saved, that salvation is a free gift offered to all men and women, not a chosen few. But none would be saved if there was not a Savior seeking the lost, seeking to save them. I thank the Lord this morning for His salvation, for the drawing of Christ and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
