1 Tim 4:8-9
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. This is another faithful saying, the second of four we find named in the Bible. Bodily exercise has little profit, but Godliness has great profit. Why? Because this world will last only a short time. Think of that. The Bible dates this world to be a little over 6,000 years old. That is a long time. But is it really? Not when you hold it up to eternity. And then think of our time in this world. I have had funerals for people who died in their 90’s and funerals for some who did not make it even one year in this world. Even 90 years is not a long time in the face of eternity. We ought to be more concerned, much more with the things of God than the things of the world. The things of god, our walk with Him, our relationship with Him, our service to Him are much more important than the things of the world. That is a faithful saying.
