14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying , and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. The phrase “faithful saying” is found only 4 times in the Bible, all in the New Testament. Over the next few days we will look at all of them.
The first time the phrase “faithful saying” is used it is in 1 Tim 1:15. What a wonderful faithful saying. Something we can depend upon. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. Praise God! Jesus Christ came into this world to save me! What a wonderful faithful saying. Think of that for a moment…Jesus loved you so much, loves me so much that He came into this world with us in mind, came into this world to save us. And we don’t deserve so great salvation. The Bible tells us in the very next verse that this salvation is all of the mercy of God. God extended His mercy to us in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. You don’t deserve to be saved, but He did come into this world to save you. Are you saved today? If you are let this truth sink in this morning. Think of what Jesus Christ has done for you, think of how you don’t deserve it, and let that faithful saying guide you through this day.
