September 18th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 3 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. That is a child’s prayer that most all have known, perhaps a prayer that you repeated time after time when you were a child as well. What a tremendous Bible truth is found in that prayer. (Psalm 3:5) Isn’t it a wonderful thing to be able to lay down and sleep at night? For many as we grow older that is a rare thing, a good night’s sleep escapes us because of aches and pains and there is little we can do about that. But if sleep escapes us because of worries, fears, or a troubled heart, there is much we can do about that. For David in Psalm 3 troubles had piled up, enemies were many and closing in, still David could lay down and sleep. Why? Because he turned all over to the Lord, even if there be 10,000 and more after him David turned it all over to the Lord. What worries you today my friend, what troubles you? Is there anything too large or small to give to Jesus, any enemy He cannot defeat, anything that can’t be overcome in and by the power of Almighty God? You know the answer to that and so did David, so do what that good man did, give it all to Jesus and lay down and sleep at night.
