September 9th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 19:7-14 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
A little late this morning because of a trip to the hospital to have prayer with a brother in Christ from our church.
Yesterday we saw what the Bible, what the Word of God is from Psalm 19:7-9, this morning I want to begin to look at what the Bible does for and to those who are given to it. First, the Word of God coverts the soul. (Verse 7) Did you know an individual cannot be saved apart from the Bible? Some may contend that they were saved and none read the Bible to them at that time, that they were convicted of sin, that they were aware of sin, that they knew of Jesus Christ and asked Him to save them apart from the Bible. But, can that really be true? Where is it that we learn of sin, where is it that we learn of heaven, where is Christ revealed? Is it not in the Word of God? You cannot talk to anyone about Christ, about sin, about heaven or about hell, you cannot tell anyone how to be saved without knowing about those things from the Bible. Jesus is in heaven at the right hand of the Father, the apostles are in heaven, the early church fathers in heaven, the first missionaries and evangelist are all in heaven are they not? So where do we learn of salvation if not from the Bible? Someone has read of these things, shared them with others, shared them with us, and they we were convicted by the Holy Spirit and we were saved. One reason to be given to the Bible is that it converts the soul, that is what God says. If you want to be used of the Lord in bringing others to Christ, then be given to the Bible, for without it none could be saved today
