September 8th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 19:7-14 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
In this Psalm David begins to speak of the Word of God, of what that Word is and what it does for those who are given to it. I would like to take a look at what is given to David in this Psalm by the Holy Spirit concerning the Word of God over the next few days. We will begin this morning by taking note of what the Word of God is. David proclaims that God’s Word is perfect, sure. Right, pure, true, righteous, something to be desired, and something that brings great reward when it is kept. Notice verse 7 (Perfect and sure), verse 8 (right and pure), Verse 9 (true and righteous), verse 10 (Desired) and verse 11 (Reward). What a book the Bible is! Do you want something true today, something sure today, something trustworthy today, something right today? Then read your Bible today. Here is God’s true message to you today, to me today, to the lost, to the saved, to the young, to the old, here is God’s true message. You will not find anything like this on Fox, or CNN, or in the paper, not in a novel no where will you find anything like the Bible. Yet many who profess to know Christ as savior will go through this day and give no time to the Bible. Don’t let that be you today, take time in the Word of God. If we fail in doing that day by day we will miss out on what the Bible does which we will look at tomorrow morning. Read your Bible today.
