September 4th, 2014 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 2:1-3 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Has the Lord been gracious to you? One has to wonder when they look at some who profess to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior. The things named in verse one we expect to see in the lost, although there was a day when even lost people did not display those things in the way we see them today. This is a day when lies are told as truth and readily accepted by people, a day when people have malice in their heart towards many, a day of hypocrisies and evil speaking. Yet these things the Christian is commanded to lay aside, to put them away, to put them off. How can we do that in the world we live in today? One thing we see in our text is vital, a sincere desire for the Word of God. If one wants to be lifted above the world, one cannot live by the accepted standards of the world that are seen in verse one, and the only way to do that is to live by another standard, be directed by another, be strengthened by another, and by the grace of God that is possible through Christ and the Holy Spirit. What is it though to have a sincere desire for the Word of God? Read your Bible today, meditate upon that thought, and we will look deeper into it tomorrow.
