September 3rd, 2014 by Pastor SolleyMatt 16:1-4 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
No sign would be given to this wicked generation, to these ones who had closed their eyes to the works and message of Christ. Another thing that bothered our Lord was that these were the learned men of the Jews religion, men who knew the Old Testament Scriptures and studied them often. These men missed, because they closed their eyes to Jesus, the signs of the times. The Holy Spirit revealed to the prophet Daniel the time and place the Messiah would offer Himself to the nation of Israel and Daniel recorded that in Daniel chapter 9. These men knew the Scriptures, studied them, would know that it was the time for the Messiah to be before them. Still they rejected Him, rejected Christ, and called for Him to be crucified, they did not discern the signs of the times. Today we have many religious people who are doing the same as they call for a world wide revival through a one world church making the world a better place to live, a world where all go to heaven. According to the Bible no such world will exist in this present dispensation, instead things will get worse and worse to the end with many being deceived by the religious leaders of the day. We live now in that time and we need to ready ourselves for the return of Jesus Christ. Don’t be like the Pharisees were, don’t miss the sings of His soon return.
