Ps 101:1-4 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

David was a man who behaved wisely before God, a man who loved the house of God and people of God, a man who set no wicked thing before his eyes. Another thing we see in David that we need follow today and is often lacking today is found in verse 4. David put away a froward heart. The word means a distorted, crooked, or perverse heart. Many today have wicked hearts, hearts that are saturated with a love for the world and a love for sin. We expect this in the lost, but many who claim to know Christ today have hearts that are not right with Him. People may try and put up a righteous front, try and live as if all is right with God in their lives, but they have hearts far from the Lord. Given enough time that heart will show itself, just the heart of Israel was far off from God and in time the nation showed itself, so it is with many today. Not all who claim to know Christ, and that is not to say that I know the hearts of people, have a heart for the Lord. What of the Christian who has no time to read the Bible, no time to pray, no time to be involved in the work of the Lord? Yet that same one has time for sports, for TV, for movies, for hobbies, and even for open sin, does that one have a heart for God, or does that one have a distorted heart? David was not a perfect man, none are, but David had a heart for the Lord. Who has your heart today?
