Ps 101:1-3 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Another thing David determined in his Christian walk was to set no wicked thing before his eyes. (Verse 3) Do you ever wonder why so many professing Christians get caught up in sin today? Why those who claim to know the Lord Jesus Christ as savior seem to love sin and just cannot get away from certain sins? In large part it stems from what we look at, what we watch everyday. David said that he would set no wicked thing before his eyes. Yet what do we look at day by day? Many watch TV, movies, videos that are filled with sex, nudity, cursing, violence and the like and think it will have no effect upon them. But what do such things do to our hearts and minds? Minds that are to be filled with the things of God are instead filled with the things of the world, minds that are to be filled with pure thoughts are filled with lust and envy, minds that are to be steadied are instead unstable. Through the eye to the mind, to the heart, to our actions, the things we look at, the things we take in, they move us often times in a direction we do not want to go. What David looked at took him to his great sin. Many who will say they are against fornication, adultery, nudity, sit and watch those things in their homes night after night. In truth they do not hate them as David said he did, they love them and eventually we will dream of the things we love and then do them. What will you set before your eyes today?
