Daily Devotions
August 13th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyMatt 24:43-46 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
One must be ready for the return of the Lord in salvation, one must also be ready for the return of the Lord in faithfulness and service. The servant who was faithful was called wise by Christ. I wonder how many Christians realize how little they do for the Lord today? There was a time when Christians were give to reading their Bible, to prayer, to the house of God, to fellowship with those of like precious faith, and this took them into a life of service for the Lord. Not necessarily what we call “Full time service”, but everyday serving the Lord. In today’s world the things above have been replaced by the TV, movies, video games, the PC, face book, and on and on we could go. As those things replaced in great part an interest in spiritual things service for the Lord became a thing of the past. Ask yourself today, Wednesday, what have you done for Jesus the first few days of this week. Have you been faithful in praying for others? Have you been faithful in a walk in the light of His Word? Have you been a faithful witness, invited anyone out to church, handed out a tract, been faithful in family devotions? What of your service for the Lord on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. If Jesus returned today would He call you a faithful and wise servant?
