August 7th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyMatt 3:1-6 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
I may have mentioned that this is our 19th year of camp and this evening we will do something new to our campground. Several years ago we held a baptism at a camp we were renting and this evening we will have a baptism to begin our evening service at the pond just below our chapel. One of our workers in the camp, saved a few years ago, expressed a desire to follow the Lord in baptism. This young man married a girl from our church and moved out of the area, he is in the Air Force, they are back to help with the camp and I have the pleasure of baptizing him this evening. This is one of the aims of our camp, to get people saved, but also to help them step out and stand up for Jesus Christ. Pray that through this man’s example and testimony the campers will be encouraged to step out for Jesus as well.
