Ps 27:1-5 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

This life holds many fears for all people, saved and lost. People worry over health, wealth, work, family, uncertain future, decisions that need to be made, decisions that have been made, this life holds many fears and worries. The medical profession and drug companies love this because they give a pill for everything, pills to make you relax, pills to help with depression, pills to make you sleep, pill is think that even make you forget. But none of those have a real solution to the problems of life for when the pills run out the problem is still there. Yet we find in Psalm 27 that David asks a question that indicates he found the answer to worry and fear. (Ps 27:1The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?) When David asked “Whom shall I fear” it indicates that he had no fear. How could this man, who was king in Israel, who had enemies from without the kingdom as well as from within, who had such responsibility, have no fear? What pill did David take, what doctor did he see? David had the Lord and the Lord alone to take away his fear. Read this Psalm today, meditate a few moments upon it and ask yourself, what fears do I have, what is my biggest worry? For the next few days we will look at David and how all his fears were taken away.
