July 16th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyRom 1:15-16 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ because of its calming influence upon those who have believed and received it. This is a very troubling world for any person. Worry and trouble over money, over family, over the future and over heath to name just a few things. When people are troubled they turn to many things and people, to doctors, to medications, to institutions, and even to drugs and alcohol. These only provide temporary relief from the problems people have, no permanent solution. Yet there is one who can bring a peace to the soul, there is one who can calm the troubled waters of life, there is the Lord Jesus Christ and the gospel. Jesus said “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” There is one who can calm and give rest to the soul. I sit at the bedsides of many who are sick and dying, many who have worries and troubles that they cannot bare, and the one thing that that can calm their soul, give rest, and bring peace is the gospel message. How precious it is to read the Bible and to pray and then to see that sweet peace of God calm the troubled seas of life. Yes, I am not ashamed of the gospel for it brings peace to any soul who receives it.
