Daily Devotions
July 14th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyRom 1:14-16 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
An individual can usually make a long list of things in their lives, things in the past, perhaps some still ongoing, that they are ashamed of. Paul could certainly do that. I am sure he was ashamed of how he persecuted the church before he was saved, how he worked to silence the voice of the redeemed and stamp out the name of Jesus Christ. Most of us have things that we are ashamed of. Praise God that when we were saved the slate was wiped clean, our sins were forgiven, washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ, and we started anew and afresh. There are without doubt things we did after salvation that we are ashamed of as well, and we have a way of being cleansed and forgiven of those as well. (! John 1:8-10) One thing we never have to be ashamed of is the gospel of Jesus Christ, the gospel that saved us, the gospel that keeps us, the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to look over this coming week of the power of the gospel of Christ and at the truth that we never need be ashamed of the gospel. Think today of what Jesus Christ did to save you, and of the great truth that the gospel, your salvation, is nothing to be ashamed of.
