Ps 66:1-2 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Ps 66:17-18 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Something that will rob the Christian of the joy they are to have is sin. As we see inverse 18 sin disrupts our fellowship and communion with God. If the Christian life is to be joyful life, and it is, what is the source of that joy? The source of joy is Jesus Christ, our walk with Him, our fellowship with Him, our communion with Him, the source of all joy is Christ. It stands to reason then that if my relationship with Christ is not what it should be, not what it could be, that my joy will diminish. I am saved to uttermost as the song says, but I can lack the joy that God wants me to have as a Christian if my walk with Christ is not what it should be. The greatest hindrance to that walk and my joy is sin. Sin gets into a life through the tinniest crack, through the smallest opening, and once there it multiplies and grows. Take what we watch for instance. Are there things that we watch that feed lust, that speak to the flesh and give fleshly desires? Are these then directed in the wrong places, to the wrong people? That is sin and that begins to effect my relationship with Christ. As my relationship with Christ is hindered by sin my joy disappears. It doesn’t have to be things we watch or listen to, but we need to give no place to the devil in our lives. He can’t take away or salvation, but sin can take away our joy. What hinders your joy today?
