8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.Do you ever stop to think of how God deals with man, of how God deals with us day by day? God is merciful, gracious, slow to anger in His dealings with men and the Christian as well. I wonder how often we think of how good God is to us and how longsuffering.
I had a funeral yesterday and it was very obvious that there were many people there who were not saved. As I brought the message I could see the indifference in the hearts of the lost, the hardness against God and the Lord Jesus Christ. In some it was like looking into the face of Satan. They just did not want to hear the gospel. Yet I wonder at many Christians who know what God wants them to do and how God wants them to live, yet they are indifferent. They keep no testimony, they sit with the workers of darkness, they walk in wicked places, they get involved with the wrong people and they act indifferent to the Word of God, to the one who saved them. They swim in the filth of the world. How thankful we need to be that God is longsuffering with us as well as with the lost. Are you pushing the patience of God to its limit today?
One thing about yesterday. In the midst of so many indifferent hearts one young man was saved. Thank God for His mercy and grace extended to the lost. But thank Him as well for those things extended to the Christian. Don’t push His patience to the limit, live for Him today.
