37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Just how important are the words we speak? The Bible says that we will be judged for “Every idle word”. We can do great damage, as we saw yesterday, or great good with our words. This does not mean we cannot joke around with people, it does not mean we need be serious in everything that we say, but it does mean we should think before we speak. How many times have you been joking with someone only to find out later they took what you said to heart? How many feelings have you hurt and you never knew it? How many times were your words that maul, or sword, or arrow and you never intended them to be. Be careful about idle words, thing we say and we haven’t thought about, for they can do great damage. Words spoken are never forgotten by the party offended and they can leave deep and lasting scars. Today, think before you speak.
