1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

The last time God addresses little children is in 1 John chapter 5, which we noted earlier in the week. Here we find that God’s children, His little children, are to keep from sin. “That ye sin not”. Sin is the great destroyer, it destroys lives, families, churches and nations, sin destroys. What then do we do about sin? First we need to repent and come to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. God call all to be saved, wants all to be save, but we must turn from sin to Jesus Christ. The we need to walk in the light and in fellowship with Christ. (See chapter 1 of 1 John.) When we do sin we need to confess and forsake that sin. Perhaps the greatest problem facing the church today, facing the people of God today is the lack of confession for sin, the forsaking of sin. Just look at your life today, this very day in the light of the Word of God and see how great hold sin has upon you. God would have us sin not, God would have His children sin not. How are we doing in that?
