Everyone want to be, or should want to be a success at whatever they do, whatever they are engaged in. To be successful in school and get good grades, to be successful at work and make a good wage, to be successful with people and have friends, to be successful at marriage and have a happy home, to be successful on the playing fields and be good at what one does, everyone wants to be successful. Did you know that our text verse for the day is the only place the word success is found in the Bible? One might wonder if God wants us to be successful or not having used the word only this one time in His Holy Bible. Yes God does want us to be successful, God does not want us to fail, but we will often look at success in a different light than God does. Does it make one successful to get a good education, make lots of money and friends, to get all the pleasures and toys this life has to offer, is that success? In the eyes of man perhaps, but not in the eyes of God. Notice how God measures success, it is in the light of His Word and our obedience to Him. When we know His Word, walk in His Word, serve Him, then in the eyes of God we are successful, then we have good success. Then when we do those things and only when we do those things will we begin to prosper and have good success.
