Daily Devotions

Ps 127:1-2 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Verse one of our text this morning is not from the book of Proverbs, but it certainly is a wise saying. How many things are being built today in vain? I listen to our President and I do not want to be disrespectful in this devotional, but I wonder at what is said by him and our other elected leaders today. They are trying to build something, be it legacy, be it a power base, be it good will, be whatever it may, they are building in vain. What would happen if our leaders turned to Christ and allowed God to lead them in leading our nation? No more would they be building in vain, no more would they be found walking apart from the blessings of God. I know that the majority of those who read these devotionals will agree with that statement. But then what of us? Are we allowing the Lord Jesus Christ to rule in our lives, have we turned all over to Jesus? When the spotlight is turned upon us, what does it reveal? We cannot expect to see in others what we do not allow them to see in us.
