April 1st, 2014 by Pastor Solley2 Tim 1:5-7 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Timothy was challenged to “Stir up the gift of God” that was in him. This leads me to a question this morning; how many of God’s children are gifted for His service? The answer is all. If all are called to serve then all will be gifted to serve. (Rom 12:1) Why is it then so few will see themselves, or seem to be gifted? Have you ever made chocolate milk? If you pour the mixture in but don’t stir it, it goes to the bottom of the glass and is useless. It is in there but it needs to be stirred. It is the same with the Christian, we are gifted, but we need to be stirred. How then are we stirred for the Lord? We need to be in the Word of God daily, we need to be in prayer constantly, we need to be in the house of God consistently, these things will lend to our being stirred for the Lord, lend to the stirring of our spiritual gifts. If a young pastor like Timothy needed to be stirred, how much more you and me today?
