1 John 1:3-7 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Another thing that hinders our fellowship with God is a lack of love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible says that we are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Our first love needs to be for Jesus Christ. But there are just as many, more in fact, commands to love one another found in the Bible. (1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.; 1 John 3:16
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ; 1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.) Now we are not to love sin, not to love and accept sin and compromise, but we are to love one another. There should not be petty things that separate and divide believers in Christ as there so often is. Christians seem to fight over almost anything today. Again, we are not to love and accept sin, but we are to love and forgive. I know people who have not talked for years over little things, neither party wanting to take a simple step of saying “I’m sorry”. How can we say we love and have fellowship with one we have never seen when we will not love and have fellowship with those before us, many times in the same church. A lack of love between believers hinders any fellowship we want to have with Christ. We need to follow the Bible here.
(Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.)
