Daily Devotions

Matt 24:10-12 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Another cold snap coming for today into tomorrow here in PA. This will be perhaps the coldest of this winter thus far with highs well below zero many are saying. Jesus told of such a cold snap coming in the last days. Jesus is of course speaking of a spiritual coldness, a lack of love that will abound in the last days. I was thinking of how hard it is to get used to the cold of winter the older I get. I am stiff, my joints hurt, my back gives me some trouble, out in the snow, shovel the walk and the driveways, it is hard to get used to the cold. The same with the spiritual coldness that we see today. So many indifferent to the Lord, so many having a lack of love, not only for the Lord but for one another in these last days, so many playing with and in sin. It is hard to get used to when you are old enough to remember 30 years ago. But just as this cold of winter will not last forever, spring will come, so the spiritual coldness will not last forever for one day Jesus will come again. When I look out at the snow and wind I know it will end and when I look at the love of many waxing cold today I know Jesus will bring that to an end as well. That is something to warm ourselves with today, the blessed truth of the return of Jesus Christ to warm our soul.
