Ps 27:11-14 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

It is a hard thing to wait at times isn’t it? Yet our lives are often filled with times of waiting. Right now we are waiting for a construction crew to come to the house and fix the damage caused by our fire. People were out last Thursday, determined that the fire was not caused by neglect, approved the needed repairs and replacement, and now we wait. Everyday we wonder if they will call or arrive today. Not on Friday, didn’t hear on Monday, should we call, what should we do, and so we wait. Life is often filled with times of waiting. So it is with our spiritual life as well with some notable differences. As we wait on the Lord we need not worry that He has forgotten about us, we need not worry that He is too busy to deal with us, we need not worry that He has no time for us, we need not wonder or worry about those things as we wait on the Lord. But there are times God would have us wait. Perhaps that which we ask for is not good for us at the time, perhaps God is leading in another direction, perhaps the answer to a specific request will be no. There are times we simply need to wait with patience upon Him. I may get frustrated with an insurance company, with a construction company as time passes, but I never, we never ought to get frustrated with our God. Allow Him to strengthen us as we wait on Him for our God will move in His perfect time.
