Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Do you ever stop to think just how much God watches over you, watches over and protects His children. Satan accused God of placing a hedge about Job and so perhaps there was. Even while Job was being tried God protected him, cared for him, provided for him, Satan could go only so far, there was a hedge about Job. Nothing has happened to me that would come close to comparing me or my life to Job, but I thank the Lord for His protection on my wife and myself, on my family day by day. Yesterday we had a house fire, my wife was just leaving to go to town and I was going to go make some visits and stop at the church for prayer. Before she left she said she could smell something burning and when we investigated we found that the cold snap we were in and the wood fire I was burning cracked the chimney and the liner inside. We called 911 and the firemen were at the house within ten minutes and were able to extinguish the fire just as it was starting to ignite and before any great damage. We were told that five minutes later and we would have lost the house. As it is the fire was contained to a closet, no damage to the roof, no real water damage to speak of. I thank the Lord today for the hedge He does place around His children. There are things that touch all of us, but think of what it would be like without His protecting hand, without the hedge He places about us.
