January 6th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyGen 1:1-4 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
I was listening recently to a debate on modern religion and the host had on some of the most well known and successful pastors in America. At least they are successful in the eyes of men because they have some of the biggest and fastest growing churches in America. One thing they had in common was a desire to tear down all walls of separation. They preach an all positive, all inclusive message that God is love, that God loves everybody, and that God accepts everybody just the way they are. There is just enough truth in their message to deceive people. Yes God is love, yes God loves everybody, but does God accept everybody just the way they are? There is the deception my friend and the danger of modern religion. The sinner is made to feel comfortable in their sin and is given no reason to repent from sin and turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. Yet we see in the very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible that God is a God of division. Who was it that divided the light from the darkness? It was God and God still divides today. A holy, righteous, and just God cannot and does not accept sin. Modern religion may make people feel better but it still leaves sinful man outside of God’s salvation and will lead him to hell. Our God is a God that divides.
