Deut 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

Our God is _______________________________. Fill in the blank this morning. The phrase “Our God is” is found in the Bible 14 times in the Bible, the first being our verse for today. The last is found in the book of Hebrews. – Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
If you look at that phrase, “Our God is” you find our God to be many great and wonderful things for His people. Our God is all things. (Deut 4:7) Our God is one. (Deut 6:4) Our God is upon them who seek for good. (Ezra 8:22) Our God is the God of salvation. (Ps 68:20) Our God is holy. (Ps 99:20) Our God is righteous. (Dan 9:14) Our God is many wonderful things to His children. But we also find that our God is a consuming fire. (Heb 12:29) And we find that our God is not among us. (Deut 31:17) With all the good things our God is many forget that God is a God of judgment as well and that God, our God cannot bless sin. How many of God’s people today think they can do whatever they want, act however they want, go wherever they want and God still must bless them? That is the thinking of many today. Friend, God wants to be all for you, to be with you, to bless you, but our God cannot bless sin and must judge sin. The state of Christianity is such today that people want the good things of God and then have God wink at their sin. We must remember that our God is also a consuming fire.
