Daily Devotions
November 21st, 2013 by Pastor Solley1 Tim 2:1-3 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
The Bible exhorts the Christian to give thanks for all men, for those in authority over us. For the believer today that means to give thanks and pray for our President and the elected leaders of our nation. America has changed in my lifetime, more changes than in any other generation. Abortion became the so called right of the mother, the homosexual agenda is being promoted and state after state is making a mockery of God’s order for marriage and family, the first amendment is being denied to Bible believers, God has been taken out of the schools, out of the military, and out of society. America is ripe for judgment and no nation in the history of the world that has so mocked God has escaped that judgment. America has changed in my lifetime. Yet we are as Christian exhorted to pray, pray for our leaders, pray for our President, and to give thanks for our nation. With all the changes, ungodly changes, we still live in the greatest nation in the world, we still have more freedom than any other people in the world. While these things remain true thank God for them and pray that our leaders get saved and allow us to keep them. We can pray as God wants us to pray as we remember that God is in control of all things, God can and does set up kingdoms as well as knock them down. Pray and give thanks today for what we still have.
