Jer 33:1-3 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

It is this man’s opinion that a consistent prayer life is at the same time one of the easiest and hardest parts of the Christian life to maintain on a daily basis. It is easy because Jesus Christ has made the way of prayer open to us. (Heb 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.; Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.)
All prayer demands is my heart and my time. Yet that is what makes it so hard as well. There are many things trying to capture the heart of the redeemed and many things demanding our time. This is a very busy world and the things that have been invented to save time seem only to take more time. Think of the home PC for example and the time it can save a person. Information available at the click of a mouse, but what do most people use the OC for? Time wasted on face book, time wasted watching videos, many waste hours each day in front of the PC. Then the things of the world that take the heart of man are so many and so varied that it would take months to name them all. To be a person of prayer one must be a disciplined person and that seems to be the problem today, a lack of self control. Count the hours wasted today and then the minutes spent in prayer. God wants us to call upon Him, God wants us to pray, and when we do God answers. But how many have the heart to pray today, how many take the time to pray today?
