October 23rd, 2013 by Pastor SolleyGen 8:21-22 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
It is turning cold here in PA, calling for rain mixed with snow in some places today. So this morning as I will do and many will do each morning I started a fire to warm the house. It is a daily reminder to me of the spiritual coldness that has taken over this world. People are indifferent to the cause of Christ and the work of the Lord, more today than ever before. This does not come as a surprise to the believer who studies the Bible, we know things are not and will not get better, we know Satan is making the world ready for the anti-christ and the Lord is making the world ready for the tribulation. But the Christian should not be overcome by the coming cold. Just as I started a fire in our furnace this morning so do I need to start a fire in my heart and soul, so do I need to warm myself with the Word of God to start this day. All through the day now I will go and place more wood on the fire, keeping it hot, keeping it going, warming the house. So do I need to keep that spiritual fire going throughout my day by prayer and thinking upon the things of God. Winter is here but there is no reason to be overcome by the cold.
