How interested the world is in things that profit little. The Pittsburgh Pirates are back in the playoffs and I admit I have been watching them and will continue over the next few days. On Tuesday night the stadium was packed with over 40,000 fans dressed in black cheering and dancing as the Pirates won. I saw a video on the news this morning of one fan jumping off one of the bridges in Pittsburgh into the river below in celebration of the victory. Someone filmed him jumping and then turned the camera on the people gathers watching, they cheered and then went on with the celebration not seeming to care of the man lived or died. That man could have entered eternity over a baseball game and no one cared. Things are so out of balance today that it makes one cringe and should make a Christian ashamed. When was the last time you were excited about Jesus and the things of the Lord? When was the last time you saw your local church filled with people, standing room only, singing praises to Jesus? I have talked to many people who say they would love to go to a Pirate playoff game but if I asked someone to church they say they may come if they can, or will come when they get around to it. Perhaps if Christians got just a little excited about Jesus we could generate some interest among the lost for church and the things of the Lord. Nothing wrong with being a baseball fan but we need to keep things in balance.
