Ps 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

To be anointed by the good shepherd places one in good company. (Verse 5) Aaron was anointed, David was anointed, Solomon was anointed, Jesus was anointed, to be anointed places one in good company. Those ones were anointed to serve, to be separated unto God, as are the sheep of His flock today. Aaron walked in the presence of God in the tabernacle, David walked in the presence of God in battle, Solomon walked in the presence of God in wisdom, and Jesus walked in the presence of the Father in obedience to His will and in power to accomplish the work that He had come to do. What a blessing it is to be anointed by the good shepherd, but what a responsibility as well. Can you say today that you walk in the presence of God as Aaron did? Can you say that you stand and fight the enemies of faith as David did? Can you say that you walk in the wisdom of God as Solomon did in the beginning? Can you say that you walk in obedience and serve Him, walking in the very will of God as Jesus did? You can dear Christian because you and I have been anointed by the good shepherd.
