Ps 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Today we find that the good shepherd restores the wondering sheep. (Verse 3) Sheep, as the graze, tend to wonder away from the flock, away from the shepherd. With their mind only on self, only on their belly they tend to wonder and as they do they expose themselves to danger. The good shepherd with his ever watchful eye looks for the wondering sheep and then brings them or it back to the safety of the flock, brings them back to the safety of His care. David knew all about this. Remember what qualified him to go out and fight Goliath? He delivered wondering sheep from the lion and bear. Then in his life David as well wondered away from his shepherd, wondered into sin. But what did the shepherd do for David, sent a prophet with a convicting message and brought David back. So does the good shepherd today work to restore the wondering sheep, work to bring them back to safety. There is a lot to wonder after today, things of the world, sins of the flesh, a lot to take the sheep away from the flock. If you have wondered today realize that the good shepherd is working to bring you back realize that the good shepherd is seeking for your return. The shepherd may have his ninety and nine but He still seeks to bring back the one who wondered away.
